Sizing Old Mac's
Hoof Boots
It is important to double check your horse's hoof
measurements before ordering to ensure a good secure
fit. Should you have any doubts please refer to the size
selection information provided.
Prior to measuring it is very important that your
horse's hooves have been recently trimmed.
If you intend to wear Old Mac's over metal shoes for
transport then you must take your measurement after
shoeing.
The unique design features of Old Mac's allows for
width and length adjustment to suit most individual
horse's hooves and also caters for natural hoof growth
between trimming. This means Old Mac's Boots actually
fit to the hoof rather than relying on the hoof fitting
to the boot.
How to measure
1. Measure the length.
The length measurement is from the buttress's of the
heel to the toe. The buttress's of the heel is the last
part of the hoof wall contacting the ground at the rear
of the hoof that touches the ground when a horse is
standing on a flat surface . It is at this point the
hoof leaves the ground and deviates upwards to the
bulbs. DO NOT INCLUDE THE BULBS IN THE MEASUREMENT.
For an accurate measurement, place a straightedge across
both heel buttress. Then from the middle of this
straightedge measure to the end of the toe. See
diagram. Record the length measurement on the
Old Mac's size chart.
2. Measure the width
Measure across the widest part of the hoof. Record the
width on the Old Mac's size chart.
3. Select size from chart
Now that you have both measurements the Old Mac's size
chart which will indicate your correct boot size. Select
the largest size indicated by the size chart.
The smaller of the two sizes on the chart is discarded.
